Black River Gorges hiking
Hiking and Trekking | Land Activities

Declared a national park in 1994, the Black River Gorges National Park covers an area of 67.54km², becoming one of the largest protected forests. The park is the habitat to many endemic species, including plants and birds. This hike will take you to various viewpoints to contemplate the flourishing vegetation of the native forest. You will also get the opportunity to discover “Mare aux Joncs”, which is also known as the “Bats valley” due to the numerous Mauritian Fruit bats that can be seen there. At the end of our ascension, you will appreciate the breath-taking scenery of the west coast, its lagoons and villages. You will have a complete experience in nature with a refreshing swim in the Black River.
